SERVOS prices are always tax-inclusive. The price you set is what the customer pays, and VAT is extracted from it for reporting, never added on top. Which rate applies comes from tax groups, managed under Settings → Taxes by an admin or owner.
Tax groups
A tax group is a named rate with a ledger account: "Accommodation 12%", rate 12.00, ledger account 3100, plus an optional tax level code for your accounting system. Every sellable thing resolves to exactly one tax group, so every krone of VAT lands on the right ledger account.
Tax groups are never deleted, only deactivated. Historical orders keep their figures. Orders snapshot the group's name, rate, and account at sale time, so changing a rate later never rewrites history.
Defaults per category
Rather than assigning a tax group to every product by hand, set defaults.
Set as default on a group lets you tick the categories it covers: "Accommodations", "Fees", "Events", "Services", "Products". Anything without its own explicit tax group uses its category default. Individual items can still override, a zero-rated service next to standard-rated ones, say. Pass products are the exception. They always need an explicit group; see Passes for why it should be a 0% deferred-revenue group.
If something is sold with no resolvable tax group at all, the sale fails loudly rather than booking untaxed revenue. The fix is assigning the missing default in Settings → Taxes.
Where tax shows up
On every order, the "Incl. VAT" row expands into the per-group breakdown, and the receipt PDF itemizes the same per rate. Discounts reduce tax by themselves, since VAT is computed from the discounted, tax-inclusive amounts.
For your bookkeeper
Reports exports the financial workbook. The "Ledger Account Totals" sheet is the tax export: per tax group, the net, tax, and gross totals for the period, with ledger account and tax level code, ready for the VAT return. Refunds are in the "Credit Notes" sheet, and pass activity has its own sheets. See Reports and exports.
Common questions
Our VAT rate is changing. Edit the tax group's rate. Past orders keep the rate they were sold under, so history is safe. New sales pick up the new rate immediately.
A sale failed with a tax error. Something was sold without a resolvable tax group. Assign the missing category default under Settings → Taxes and retry.
Where do I find the numbers for the VAT return? Reports → export → the "Ledger Account Totals" sheet: net, tax, and gross per tax group for the period.
