Payments and terminals

Last updated: 26 Oct 2026

Card payments in SERVOS run through SERVPAY. You connect it once under Settings → Payments, and from then on the register, payment links, and order pages can take cards, and the money lands in your balance for payout. The same page holds your external payment methods (cash, bank transfer, invoice) and your card terminals. All of it needs an owner or admin.

Connecting SERVPAY

The payments page has three tabs. The first is the connection. Press Connect SERVPAY and then Complete SERVPAY onboarding, which sends you to a secure hosted form for business details, bank account, and identity verification, and brings you back when you're done.

Until everything is verified, the page shows "Setup Progress" with a bar and two status cards, "Charges" and "Payouts", each "Enabled" or "Disabled". An "Action required" alert means the processor has past-due requirements and payments may stop until you complete them; "Complete your account setup" means something is still missing. Press the onboarding button again to finish it. When both cards read enabled and "Payouts" says "Active", you're taking cards.

Your currency isn't set here. It's "Default Currency" under Settings → General.

SERVPAY's platform fee is 3% of each card payment, on top of card processing. Neither shows on this page; both are itemized on every payout. See Payouts.

External payment methods

The "External Payments" tab lists the ways you take money outside SERVOS, each just a "Name" and an optional "Description": "Cash", "Bank Transfer", "Invoice". Press Add to create one. A method that has been used on a payment can't be deleted.

These are used on the order page only. Open the order, and in "Payment History" choose Record external payment, pick the method, adjust the prefilled amount, add a note like an invoice number, and press Record Payment. The order is paid and a receipt is issued. The register itself never asks for cash: at the POS you choose Mark as unpaid and record the cash on the order afterwards. See Payments and refunds.

Card terminals

The "Payment Terminals" tab becomes available once SERVPAY is connected. Press Register, type the "Registration code" shown on the terminal's own screen (on the device: Settings → Generate registration code) and a "Label" like "Front desk", and press Register. The list shows each terminal with its model and whether it's "Online" or "Offline". Remove deregisters it; you can register it again later.

With at least one terminal registered, Card appears at POS checkout, and Charge via terminal appears on order pages. Either sends the amount to the reader you pick; the guest taps or inserts, and the result comes back to SERVOS by itself.

Common questions

"Card" is missing at checkout. No terminal is registered, or SERVPAY isn't connected yet. Check the "Payment Terminals" tab.

The terminal shows "Offline". The status is what the device last reported. Check the reader's power and network. If it stays offline, remove it and register it again with a fresh code from the device.

Can we take cash at the register? Yes, in two steps: Mark as unpaid at checkout, then Record external payment on the order with your "Cash" method. Create the method here first.

Where do I see what the processor still needs from us? The page shows whether something is required, not the exact list. Press Complete SERVPAY onboarding and the hosted form takes you through what's missing.
