Discounts

Last updated: 26 Oct 2026

Discounts come in two kinds, and the kind decides where it works. "Manual" discounts are applied by staff at the register. "Code" discounts are redeemed by customers typing a code at online checkout. Both can be a percentage or a fixed amount. Managing discounts lives under Discounts in the sidebar and requires an admin or owner account.

Creating a discount

Add Discount asks for the kind, then:

  • "Value": "Percentage" (up to 100%) or "Fixed". A fixed-amount code applies per item; a fixed-amount manual discount is a flat amount.
  • "Code" (code discounts): typed by the customer, case-insensitive, with a "Generate" button for a random one. The code becomes the discount's title and can't be changed once someone has redeemed it.
  • "Applies to" (code discounts): leave empty for everything, or limit the code to specific services, events, ticket types, or accommodations. Scoped codes never match products or passes.
  • "Usage limits" (code discounts): count uses "Per order" or "Per item", cap total uses, and set an expiry. Leave blank for unlimited and no expiry.

Each discount has an active switch, and the list shows its status: "active", "inactive", "expired", or "exhausted".

At the register

The POS Discounts view shows active manual discounts as tiles. Tap to apply to the whole cart, or to just the items you selected first. "Custom discount" takes any percentage or amount on the spot. Applying a discount to a line replaces whatever discount was on it; discounts never stack on one item. See Checkout and payments.

At online checkout

Customers use one field for both discount codes and pass codes. A valid code applies to the eligible items in the cart. If nothing in the cart is eligible, the customer sees an invalid-code message rather than a partial apply.

Rules worth knowing

  • A discount can never exceed an item's value. No negative lines.
  • Discounts and pass redemptions can't combine on the same item. Remove one to apply the other.
  • Because prices are tax-inclusive, tax falls with the discount. The VAT breakdown on the order is computed from the discounted amounts, so there is nothing to correct by hand.
  • Usage counting is exact even under simultaneous checkouts. A 100-use code stops at 100.

Common questions

Why can't my staff apply discounts at the register? Applying discounts requires an admin or owner account, a deliberate guard on margin.

A customer says their code doesn't work. Check the discount's status (expired? exhausted? inactive?) and its scope. A scoped code only matches the services, events, or accommodations it names, and never products or passes.

Can a discount and a pass be used on the same purchase? On different items, yes. On the same item, no. One or the other.
