Classes

Last updated: 26 Oct 2026

A class is a service whose guests join a session you have scheduled, like a Monday yoga class at 07:30. Guests don't pick any free time: they pick one of the sessions. An appointment service works the other way round: its times come from opening hours and free staff (see Setting up services).

Creating a class

Press Create Service and choose "Class" under "Kind". The kind can't be changed later. A class has no booking mode, slot interval, buffer or staff preference: every session is shared by its guests, and it holds the service's staff and rooms for exactly its own length. The "Scheduling" step asks for:

  • "Session length (minutes)": the length new sessions start from.
  • "Seats": the guests per session new sessions start from.
  • "Booking cut-off (minutes before)", as for any service.

"Visibility" and the cancellation policy work as for any service.

Variants carry the price only, such as "Drop-in" and "Member". A session's length and seats come from the session, not the variant.

Class services can't be part of a package.

Sessions and weekly series

Sessions in the class's sidebar lists its weekly series and, below them, the sessions of the next eight weeks; Show later sessions adds eight more. Each session shows its date and times, its staff (or "Needs staff"), its room and the seats booked, with "Full" once they're used up. A cancelled session of a series stays in the list, struck through.

Press New session and set the "Date", "Starts", "Ends" and "Seats". Under "Repeat":

  • "Never" adds one session, on a date up to a year ahead, for a workshop or an extra class. It shows "One-off" in the list.
  • "Every week" starts a weekly series on that weekday from that date, with an optional "Repeat until" date. Press Start series.

An end at or before the start is the next day, for a session that runs past midnight. Times are wall-clock times in your organization's time zone, so a 07:30 class stays at 07:30 across daylight saving changes. A service can't have two sessions starting at the same time.

SERVOS places a series' sessions a year ahead shortly after you save; the page says when it's still placing them. Every night it adds the next day, so the series always reaches a year ahead.

From a series' ⋮ menu:

  • Edit series changes its weekday, times, seats or dates. A change replaces the sessions to come that nobody has booked. Sessions with bookings keep their time and seats.
  • Pause series removes the sessions to come that nobody has booked and places no new ones until you press Resume series.
  • End series stops it today and removes its sessions to come that nobody has booked, and the series leaves the list. Unlike a pause, it can't be resumed. Booked sessions stay; cancel them one by one if the class won't run.

Changing one session

Click a session, in the list or on the bookings calendar, to open its panel. It shows the session's staff and room, its guests and the seats booked.

  • Edit session changes its date, times and seats. The session's booked guests move with it, and each one with an email address gets "Your … booking has been moved" with the old and new time. Seats can't drop below the ones booked. A new time needs its staff and room to be free then. This changes the one session only; to change every week, edit the series.
  • Cancel session cancels the session and every booking in it, without a cancellation fee, and each guest with an email address gets a cancellation email. Refund paid orders from their order page. The session frees its staff and room, and its series doesn't place it again.
  • Add attendee books a guest into the session: enter their name and email (or pick a customer as you type), choose the variant and press Add to session. It makes an order as the register does, unpaid until you take payment, and emails a confirmation unless you switch that off.

Edit session and Cancel session are in each session's ⋮ menu in the list too. A session that has begun can't be edited, but you can cancel it until it ends; guests already checked in keep their bookings. Viewers don't get these; they need the Member role or above.

Staff and rooms

A session holds the staff and rooms assigned under Resources for its whole length, from the moment it's placed, whether or not anyone has booked it. That time shows as taken for every other service using them.

When the staff member or room is already taken when a session is placed (by a block, a booking or another session), the session is still created but shows "Needs staff", and guests can't book it until it holds everything it needs. Assigning a resource or a group to the class staffs the sessions to come where it's free (a group with whichever of its resources is free); removing one lets go of it on the sessions to come, which then take another resource from a group the class still needs.

A block can't be saved over sessions that already hold the staff member or room. The block form names those sessions, by class and time, and asks you to cancel them first, from the session's panel, or to pause, edit or end the weekly series, which takes back the sessions nobody has booked. Blocks over appointment bookings work as before: they save around the bookings and list them.

Booking a session

Guests and the desk book a class like any service: they pick a date and one of that day's sessions, which shows the seats left. A session books until its seats are used up, then shows "Full". The booking lasts as long as the session. Cancelling a booking frees its seat; the session stays on even when its last booking is cancelled.

Transferring

Transfer… moves a class booking to another session of the same class. It's in the booking page's menu, and in each guest's menu in the session's panel on the bookings calendar. Pick one of the class's sessions in the next 30 days; each shows the seats left, or "Full" or "Needs staff", and those can't be picked. Press Transfer.

The booking frees its seat in the session it leaves and takes one in the new session, with that session's time and staff. It keeps its variant, price, guest and order. If the session filled up, lost its staff or started meanwhile, nothing moves and you see why. A customer with an email address gets "Your … booking has been moved" with the old and new time.

Transfer is there while the booking isn't cancelled, hasn't ended and has no check-in or no-show mark. Viewers don't get it; they need the Member role or above.

Common questions

A guest wants to come on another day. Use Transfer… on their booking. The price and order stay as they are.

A class runs on Mondays and Thursdays. Start two weekly series, one per weekday.

One week the class is cancelled. Open the session and press Cancel session. Its guests are emailed and their bookings cancelled without a fee.

The class moves to another time just this once. Open the session and press Edit session. Its guests move with it and are emailed the new time.

The instructor is on holiday for two weeks. Cancel the sessions in those weeks, then add the block. Or pause the series and add the block, and resume it when they're back. Sessions placed while the instructor is blocked show "Needs staff" and can't be booked.
